OUR FIRST TRIP Back in October 2013—before we were anything more than friends—we spent an afternoon roaming Opry Mills Mall. No big plans, just wandering store to store, checking out odd gadgets, oversized snacks, and random finds. It was loud, chaotic, and fun. We had no idea that day would stick with us, but something about that first unofficial outing kicked off a streak of adventures that hasn’t really stopped. October 2013

WHO KNEW And so it begins! We officially began our relationship on October 26, 2013. I’d say we were both nervous yet excited—unsure of what the future might hold, but eager to explore it together. It was the start of something genuine and meaningful, a moment we’d look back on as the first of many memories we’d create together as couple.

GIRLS TRIP A girls' weekend in New Orleans overflows with vibrant energy, delicious cuisine, and music-filled nights. Days are spent strolling through the French Quarter’s colorful streets and trying sweet beignets dusted with powdered sugar. Evenings bring cocktails on Bourbon Street, raucous laughter with friends, and smooth jazz flowing from dimly lit clubs. It’s a perfect blend of culture, celebration, and unforgettable moments. FIRST VALENTINES DAY Something Wicked this way comes For our first Valentine’s Day, we went to see Wicked at the Orpheum. It was a fun night out and something a little different from the usual dinner and a movie. February 2014
MEMPHIS ZOO Our first trip to the Memphis Zoo as a couple was more about laughs than love stories. We wandered the winding paths, cracked jokes about the flamingos, and got way too excited over snacks. The pandas were cool, but let’s be honest—we were mostly impressed by how much they could eat without moving. By the time we hit the nocturnal house (aka the land of “what am I even looking at?”), we realized the day wasn’t about deep moments—it was just a really fun time with each other, and that was more than enough. 2014

WILDERNESS FIRST RESPONDER Over the course of nine, hands-on days at a NOLS wilderness first responder course at MTSU in Murfreesboro, we learned how to manage medical emergencies in rugged and remote environments. We had a blast and met some great people. May 2015

GREAT STONE DOOR Hiking the Stone Door trail in Beersheba Springs, TN was the kind of adventure that just worked. We’d met our hiking crew only a few weeks earlier, but the group energy was easy and fun from the start. The trail took us through towering cliffs, winding paths, and incredible overlooks—each turn more impressive than the last. We swapped stories, joked around, and soaked in the views without feeling rushed. By the time we reached the Stone Door itself, it felt less like a hike and more like a shared adventure we’d all remember. July 2015
DIVE TRIP We spent our first weekend of dive training at Mermet Springs, eagerly working through our initial certifications. The calm, clear waters offered a perfect environment to master basic techniques, and we felt our confidence grow with each descent. Between dives, we explored nearby Metropolis, Illinois, taking photos with the towering Superman statue and enjoying local eateries. In just a few short days, we gained not only diving skills but also great memories of a unique corner of southern Illinois. September, 2015
ST. LOUIS GETAWAY On our trip to St. Louis, we packed in a little bit of everything—checked out the Gateway Arch, hit up the zoo, and cruised a stretch of Route 66 just for the fun of it. We wrapped it up with some legit Italian food in The Hill neighborhood. It was the kind of weekend where we didn’t overthink anything—just explored, ate well, and enjoyed the ride. September 2015

ANNIVERSARY TRIP In October, HBAdventures embarked on a memorable trip through North Carolina to celebrate our anniversary. We began by whitewater rafting down the French Broad River and exploring the charming towns of Hot Springs, Black Mountain, and Old Fort. After climbing the summit of Mount Mitchell and hiking a section of the Appalachian Trail, we marked a beautiful milestone by getting engaged at Chimney Rock State Park. We then continued the journey by driving along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway before heading east to the Outer Banks for family time by the coast. October 2015

ENGAGEMENT Chimney Rock, NC Hannah and I embarked on an unforgettable adventure through the winding trails and breathtaking vistas of Chimney Rock State Park in North Carolina. HIGHEST PEAK EAST OF THE ROCKIESMount Mitchel, NC On a fog-shrouded, rain-soaked October day, we hiked through the winding trails that lead to the summit of Mount Mitchell. TO THE BEACH After our engagement, we headed out to the Outer Banks, excited for some sun, sand, and celebrating another milestone in our life together. Hannah's family was already waiting, and we couldn't wait to share the big news of our engagement. JANUARY SHENANIGANS This past weekend, HBadventures headed out to Missouri’s famous Bonne Terre Mine to earn new diving certifications in one of the world’s largest underground lakes. After surfacing, we made time to explore the National Parks around St. Louis, soaking in natural beauty and historic sites. From there, we headed southward into Arkansas, discovering the restorative mineral waters and charming bathhouses at Hot Springs National Park. Each stop offered a unique blend of adventure, relaxation, and a deeper appreciation for the region’s diverse natural wonders. 2016

HANNAH'S GRADUATION After years of hard work and dedication, Hannah graduated from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, earning my BAS in Emergency Management and Homeland Security. The program not only expanded the understanding of crisis response and national safety measures, but also allowed her to develop leadership and decision-making skills that she could carry into any emergency setting. During our time in the area, we took the opportunity to explore a bit of local lore and visited Riverside, Iowa, famously known as the “future birthplace” of Captain James T. Kirk from Star Trek. It was a memorable way to celebrate a significant academic milestone and embrace the blend of reality and imagination that makes Iowa so unique. May, 2016

On our premoon trip to North Carolina and Tennessee, we savored the majestic vistas of the Blue Ridge Parkway and soaked in the timeless beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We glided along historic tracks aboard the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, letting the rolling forest scenery lull us into gentle reverie. In the Pisgah National Forest, we spent peaceful nights suspended in our hammocks, surrounded by whispering pines and the soft glow of starlight.
